OurKingdoms assures that your data gets used according to the current European as well as German privacy protection laws. We believe in strong data protection and care about our users. We use your data specificly only to improve this website. We explicitly do not collect or keep any personal data like your name. We will never give any data to anyone else, including advertising companies. The one and only exception is to answer criminal prosecution administrations when we are by law obliged to do so. General statement
We do not collect personal data of yours because we ourselves like to surf the web knowing that our privacy is protected. Apart from that we simply do not need your personal data. To finance the servers we display very few non-moving ads. We do not need any more. Your age, gender or name is none of our business and will never be.
Anonymous data, however, is very useful for us internally. Of course we won't give that to anyone either but we analyse this data thoroughly to improve this web site's appearance and content. For example, when we see that posts with pictures of cats have a lot of page calls, we will think about providing more of those (that would be great, we love cats). Likewise, when most access happens at nine in the morning we will try to have fresh content up by then.
What we collect
Basic data
Whenever you load a website your browser sends some information along with the request. Of that we store your browser type and version (e.g. "Mozilla Firefox 29.0.1") so that we can optimize for the most widely used systems. Also we save an non-reversable (thus mangled) hash of your ip address to prevent session hijacking. From your IP your location can be deduced (example) which we use to track which country our users come from.
Cookie data
OurKingdoms.eu uses so called cookies, these are small sets of data that a browser saves for the webserver. We use these cookies to remember which pictures have been liked and to recognize you when you visit us again so you can not upvote them a second time. Cookies can not transmit any data from your system and are completely anonymous. The derived data tells only which pages "someone" accessed and when. That lets us analyse which posts are popular and which not so we can adjust to all users' needs.
If you don't like to use the cookies you can easily disable them in your browser settings. Also learn more about cookies here or here. However, most websites will not be able to be used comfortably without cookies enabled as for example logins require their presence (applies to the OurKingdoms.eu login as well).
Data at registration
When you choose to register at OurKingdoms.eu you need to provide a valid email address. You will also be asked to choose a password, user name (pseudonym) and your country of residence. We store your email address to identify you back at the login. Your password gets encrypted for the databasse according to modern cryptographic standards, it does not get stored in plaintext anywhere.
Data location
All of OurKingdoms.eu servers stand on european ground. No extern parties have access to the servers or any saved data as outlined above. As we do not even store your IP address there is no way to track any visit from you to our web site.
What extern services we use
Piwik
Piwik is an alternative to Google Analytics and offers similar comfort while the data remains with us. It is a tool to analyse anonymous user movements on our website - nothing gets sent to the Piwik service itself.
Social Networks
We are displaying social network plugins, currently this is the Facebook "like" and "share" button only. For the interaction with these buttons please be referred to their data protection policies.
